3–4 medium potatoes


1 cup gram flour (besan)


2 tbsp rice flour (for crispiness)


1 tsp red chili powder


½ tsp turmeric powder


1 tsp ajwain (carom seeds) or jeera


A pinch of baking soda (optional)


Salt to taste


Water (for batter)


Oil for deep frying

1. Slice potatoes


Peel and cut into thin round slices (not too thick).



2. Make batter


In a bowl, mix besan + rice flour + spices + salt


Add water slowly → make smooth, thick batter (like dosa batter)



3. Heat oil


Heat oil on medium flame



4. Dip & fry


Dip each potato slice in batter


Drop into hot oil


Fry until golden and crispy



5. Serve hot


Remove and place on tissue paper
