Poha Recipe (Light & Healthy Breakfast)

Poha is a popular Indian breakfast made with flattened rice, onions, peanuts, and mild spices. It’s quick to cook, easy to digest, and perfect for busy mornings.

📝 Ingredients

Thick poha (flattened rice) – 2 cups

Onion – 1 medium (finely chopped)

Potato – 1 small (finely chopped, optional)

Peanuts – 2 tbsp

Green chilli – 1 (finely chopped)

Mustard seeds – 1 tsp

Turmeric powder – ½ tsp

Curry leaves – 8–10

Oil – 2 tbsp

Salt – to taste

Lemon juice – 1 tbsp

Sugar – ½ tsp (optional)

Coriander leaves – for garnish

👩‍🍳 How to Make Poha

Rinse poha in water and drain well. Add salt and turmeric; mix gently.

Heat oil in a pan. Add peanuts and fry until crisp. Remove and keep aside.

In the same pan, add mustard seeds and curry leaves.

Add onion, green chilli, and potato. Cook until soft.

Add soaked poha and mix gently.

Cook for 2–3 minutes on low flame.

Add sugar (optional), lemon juice, and fried peanuts. Mix well.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.

🍽️ Serving Suggestions

Serve with tea, coconut chutney, or sliced lemon.

🌟 Tips

Use thick poha for best texture.

Do not overcook after adding poha.
