How to Make Macaroni and Cheese (Mac & Cheese)


Ingredients:


2 cups elbow macaroni

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

2 cups milk (preferably warm)

1½ cups grated cheddar cheese

½ cup mozzarella (optional, for extra creaminess)

Salt – to taste

Black pepper – ¼ tsp

¼ tsp paprika or red chili flakes (optional)


Instructions:


1. Boil the macaroni:

Boil water with a pinch of salt.

Add macaroni and cook until soft but firm (al dente).

Drain and set aside.


2. Make the cheese sauce:

In a pan, melt butter on low heat.

Add flour and stir continuously for 1–2 minutes to form a roux.

Slowly add warm milk, whisking to avoid lumps.


3. Add cheese:

When the sauce thickens, add cheddar and mozzarella cheese.


Stir until melted and creamy.

Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.


4. Combine:

Add the cooked macaroni to the sauce.

Mix well so every piece is coated with cheese.


5. (Optional) Bake it:

Transfer to a baking dish, top with extra cheese, and bake at 180°C for 10 minutes for a golden crust.


Serving Suggestion:


Serve hot with garlic bread or a light salad. Perfect for lunch, dinner, or parties!
