How to make soya sauce
Here’s a simple homemade soy sauce recipe you can try 👇
🧂 Ingredients:
2 cups soybeans
4 cups wheat flour (or roasted wheat)
8 cups water
1 cup salt
Optional: 1 tbsp vinegar (for taste balance)
🍳 Instructions:
1. Soak the soybeans:
Rinse and soak soybeans in water overnight (8–10 hours).
2. Cook the soybeans:
Boil them until soft (about 2 hours). Drain and cool.
3. Roast and mix with wheat:
Roast the wheat flour until golden brown.
Mix the roasted wheat with cooked soybeans.
4. Fermentation step (traditional method):
Spread the mixture on a clean tray and let it ferment for 2–3 days in a warm place (cover with a clean cloth).
A greenish mold will form — this is natural.
5. Make the brine:
Mix 1 cup salt with 8 cups water.
Add the fermented mixture into the brine jar.
Cover and let it ferment for 6 months in a warm place (stir once a week).
6. Strain and boil:
After fermentation, strain the liquid using a muslin cloth.
Boil the liquid for 10–15 minutes to kill bacteria.
7. Cool and bottle:
Let it cool, then pour into clean glass bottles.
Store in a cool, dark place.
