Gobi rice

 

Here's a simple and delicious Gobi Rice (Cauliflower Rice) recipe you can try at home:



🌾 Gobi Rice Recipe (Serves 2)


📝 Ingredients:


1 cup basmati rice (or any rice)


1½ cups cauliflower florets (small pieces)


1 onion (thinly sliced)


1 tomato (chopped)


1 green chili (slit)


1 tsp ginger-garlic paste


¼ tsp turmeric powder


½ tsp red chili powder


½ tsp garam masala


½ tsp cumin seeds


Salt to taste


2 tbsp oil or ghee


Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)



✅ Optional:


A few curry leaves


1 bay leaf or a small piece of cinnamon



👩‍🍳 Instructions:


1. Cook the Rice:


Wash and soak rice for 15 minutes.


Cook it with 2 cups water until soft but not mushy.


Spread on a plate to cool.



2. Prepare the Cauliflower:


Wash and blanch gobi florets in hot water with a pinch of salt and turmeric for 5 mins.


Drain and keep aside.



3. Make the Masala:


Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds (and bay leaf/curry leaves if using).


Add sliced onions and sauté till golden.


Add ginger-garlic paste, green chili, and fry for a minute.


Add tomatoes, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until tomatoes soften.



4. Add Cauliflower:


Add the blanched gobi and cook on medium flame for 5–6 mins until slightly crispy.


Add garam masala and mix well.



5. Combine with Rice:


Add cooked rice to the gobi mixture.


Mix gently so the rice doesn’t break.


Cook for 2 more minutes on low flame. Adjust salt if needed.



6. Garnish & Serve:


Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves.


Serve hot with raita, pickle, or papad.



💡 Tips:


You can add green peas or carrots for more veggies.


Use leftover rice to make it quicker.



A dash of lemon juice adds a nice tangy flavor.
