Perfect potato chips
crispy potato chips at home:
Ingredients:
2–3 medium potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold work well)
Vegetable oil (for frying)
Salt (to taste)
Optional: pepper, paprika, garlic powder, or other seasonings
Instructions:
1. Wash & Slice:
Wash the potatoes thoroughly.
Slice them very thinly (1–2 mm) using a sharp knife or mandoline slicer for even thickness.
2. Soak:
Place the slices in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes (removes excess starch and helps with crispiness).
Drain and pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels.
3. Heat Oil:
Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to about 350°F (175°C).
4. Fry:
Fry the slices in small batches (don’t overcrowd the pan).
Cook for about 3–5 minutes or until golden and crispy.
Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
5. Season:
Sprinkle with salt or your favorite seasonings immediately while still hot.
