Banana bajji

Here's a simple and tasty recipe to make Banana Bajji (Balekai Bajji / Raw Banana Fritters) – a popular South Indian tea-time snack:

🍌 Ingredients:

2 raw bananas (plantains)

1 cup besan (gram flour)

2 tbsp rice flour (for crispiness)

¼ tsp turmeric powder

½ tsp red chili powder

A pinch of asafoetida (hing)

Salt to taste

Water (as needed for batter)

Oil (for deep frying)

🧑‍🍳 Steps to Make Banana Bajji:

Step 1: Prepare the Raw Bananas

1. Peel the raw bananas and slice them thinly (either round or lengthwise).

2. Keep the slices in water to prevent discoloration.

Step 2: Make the Batter

1. In a mixing bowl, add:

Besan

Rice flour

Turmeric

Red chili powder

Asafoetida

Salt

2. Add water gradually and mix into a smooth, thick batter (should coat the banana slices well).

Step 3: Fry the Bajjis

1. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.

2. Dip each banana slice in the batter, coat well, and gently drop into hot oil.

3. Fry until golden and crisp on both sides.

4. Remove and drain on paper towels.

✅ Serving Suggestion:

Serve hot with coconut chutney or green chutney, and enjoy with tea or coffee.
